Sea Legs: A Collaborative Journey of Jolby and Ashley Forrette

We have been working our little booties off putting the show together and it looks awesome! I am so so excited for the opening of my latest art show, a collaboration with team Jolby, tomorrow night! Please join me February 24th, 6pm-late at the Together Gallery.

The show will explore the mythology and superstitions of the sea and will combine my photography with the illustrative talent of Jolby. Also featuring Dolls for Friends (contributing a large felt piece), Shoko Saito (contributing some kick-ass flying above your head decoration), wood-cut, hand-painted pieces + backed with my photography cut by Engrave, and an original soundtrack composed and recorded by The Graduate. Heck yes!

Film

Last year my Dad gave me his old Canon A-1 film camera. I've been playing around with it lately and love it. As someone who learned to shoot totally digital it is a completely different experience shooting film. I love the pace it forces me to take, and not needing to edit my work is such a treat. I'm still experimenting with different films and trying to find the one that best fits my style, but someday I hope to integrate film and digital into my professional work. For now, you are forced to see practice shots of my husband and friends. :)

It was such and amazingly beautiful day out in San Francisco. Yoon and Dan were adorable and I loved hanging out around North Beach while Dan filled us all in with fun facts about the neighborhood. So excited for their wedding! Here are a few of my favorites.
